Citizens can request an application to vote by mail, update voter registration, register to vote, and track their ballot by mail at votetexas.gov. Deadline to request an application for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked) is October 23, 2026.
Elections for the mayor and alderpersons are held every year for two-year terms. In odd-numbered years, an election for the mayor and alderpersons for Ward 1 and Ward 2 is held, and in even-numbered years, an election for alderpersons in Ward 1 and Ward 2 is held.
Filing for a place on ballot is set by state statute runs from July 18, 2026 through August 17, 2026. Filing requirements per state statute are available in the Texas Secretary of State Elections Candidate’s Guide. Candidate filings are accepted during regular hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
